Manila Disc Golf Course
🌲 The California Story: Manila Bay Disc Golf Course
Located on the coastal dunes of Humboldt County (1895 Peninsula Drive, Arcata, CA), this venue has evolved into a centerpiece of Northern California’s tight-knit “Par Infinity” disc golf culture. [1, 2, 3]
- The Evolution: Opened in 2004 as a basic 9-hole sand-and-shrub course, local volunteers transformed it into a highly technical, permanent 15-hole configuration equipped with concrete tee pads and professional Mach VII targets. [1, 2, 3]
- The “Crush Boys” & Community Legend: The course is locally famous as the hallowed training grounds where regional players (known affectionately as the Manila Crush Boys) mastered tight, precision-based lines. It routinely plays host to localized custom events, such as the Manila Mania Mystery Box of Pain (MMMBop) tournament, where competitors are forced to blind-play their first round using random discs unboxed on the morning of the event. [1]
- Fly Lab HQ: The park’s local footprint solidified with the addition of Fly Lab Disc Golf Pro Shop, Humboldt County’s only dedicated disc golf retailer. Built right on the course, the shop runs community camps, lessons, and tournaments. [1]
